Unit Manager – Surgical Ward (Cedar)

About the role

The Cedar Ward surgical unit at Vincent Pallotti Hospital is seeking a dynamic Unit Manager to lead clinical nursing, drive evidence‑based practice and ensure high‑quality patient outcomes. Reporting to the Nursing Manager, you will be responsible for both clinical leadership and operational management of the ward.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective clinical leadership and oversee the implementation of nursing care plans.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment programmes to achieve targeted clinical outcomes.
• Ensure staff competence, supervise student learning and deliver constructive feedback.
• Promote patient and family satisfaction, handle complaints and conduct quality‑care rounds.
• Implement national quality initiatives, monitor safety risks and drive corrective actions.
• Develop and communicate best operating practices and support hospital marketing activities.
• Manage people‑related processes, uphold LHC values and sponsor improvement projects.
• Participate in budgeting, control nursing costs and oversee stock and equipment utilisation.
• Maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with extensive experience in surgical ward settings.
• Proven leadership abilities and a track record of driving clinical excellence.
• Strong analytical skills to identify risks, trends and implement improvements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
