About the role

The Unit Manager – Section 8 will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality nursing care at Netcare Garden City Hospital. You will ensure compliance with professional standards, drive continuous improvement, and support staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor quality nursing care, ensuring ethical and professional practice.
• Manage financial aspects including budgeting, cost control, billing, stock management and purchasing.
• Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives and risk‑management actions.
• Oversee patient safety, incident reporting and compliance with occupational safety legislation.
• Lead capacity‑building activities such as mentoring, training and professional development.
• Evaluate patient journeys, nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes.
• Support transformation goals set by the Transformation Committee.
• Foster teamwork, effective communication and a supportive work environment.

Required profile

• Qualified nursing background with experience in a hospital setting.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Strong understanding of financial management and cost‑effective care delivery.
• Experience with quality governance, risk management and incident reporting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
