Unit Manager – Paediatric Ward

About the role

The Paediatric Ward Unit Manager will lead the nursing team at Life Hilton Private Hospital’s children’s unit, ensuring high‑quality clinical care and efficient resource use. Reporting to the Nursing Manager, the role combines clinical leadership, people management and financial oversight to meet hospital objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective clinical leadership and implement nursing care plans across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure staff competence, supervise student learning and conduct regular clinical audits.
• Drive patient‑centred outcomes, manage complaints and promote customer satisfaction.
• Implement national quality initiatives, identify safety risks and apply corrective actions.
• Lead people‑related processes, mentor staff and uphold LHC values and nursing strategy.
• Participate in budgeting, monitor nursing costs, manage stock and equipment utilisation.
• Maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including doctors, patients and service providers.
• Contribute to unit marketing initiatives and share best operating practices hospital‑wide.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with substantial experience in paediatric or acute care settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver quality clinical outcomes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Demonstrated competence in budgeting, stock control and equipment management.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to national health standards.
