Unit Manager – Operating Theatre (Pretoria)

About the role

The Hospital is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead its Operating Theatre in Pretoria. You will be responsible for overseeing clinical practice, resource allocation, and staff performance to ensure high‑quality patient care and alignment with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the theatre complex.
• Coordinate clinical practice and resources to meet quality, growth, and people goals.
• Orient and train new staff, ensuring they understand their role in delivering quality care.
• Deploy staff and resources in line with hospital policies.
• Lead interview, selection, and onboarding processes for theatre personnel.
• Foster a culture where staff recognize their contribution to patient outcomes.
• Monitor nursing care and service delivery within a multidisciplinary quality‑assurance team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with doctors and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in General Nursing, registered with the SANC.
• Post‑basic qualification in Operating Theatre (mandatory).
• Minimum 2‑3 years of leadership experience in a hospital setting.
• Proven people‑management experience.
• Experience working in an operating theatre environment.
• Good understanding of the private healthcare sector.
