Unit Manager – ICU, High Care & Medical

About the role

The Unit Manager will lead the ICU, High Care and Medical unit within the Lenmed Hospital Group in Kathu. Reporting to senior hospital leadership, you will ensure safe, high‑quality patient care while fostering a multidisciplinary team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, cost‑effective, evidence‑based patient care in line with the hospital’s clinical governance strategy.
• Monitor and evaluate patient journeys, experience metrics and stakeholder feedback.
• Track nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes, implementing improvements as needed.
• Communicate clearly with patients about their care plans and promote health and wellbeing for patients and staff.
• Enforce infection prevention standards and international precautions.
• Lead quality initiatives across the group and coordinate with public liability on risk incidents.
• Mentor, coach and develop nursing staff through capacity‑building, training and performance management.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification (B. Cur. Degree) with a management credential.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council and additional ICU nursing qualification.
• 3–5 years experience as a Unit Manager in an ICU or high‑care setting.
• Compliance with SANC Code and all applicable health‑care legislation.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
