Unit Manager – Emergency Unit (Specialised Qualified)

About the role

The Emergency Unit at Life Bedford Gardens Hospital is seeking a specialised qualified Unit Manager to lead clinical practice, coordinate resources and drive quality outcomes. This full‑time, onsite position reports to senior hospital leadership and is pivotal in achieving the organisation's objectives of patient safety, growth and staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective clinical leadership and oversee the implementation of nursing care plans across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure staff and student competence, drive professional socialisation and create a learning‑focused environment.
• Promote patient and customer satisfaction, manage complaints and conduct quality care rounds and audits.
• Implement national quality initiatives, identify clinical and safety risks and lead corrective actions.
• Lead people management processes, embody LHC values and sponsor improvement projects.
• Participate in budgeting, manage nursing costs, stock utilisation and equipment maintenance.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including doctors, patients and service providers.

Required profile

• Specialised qualification in nursing or a related health discipline.
• Proven experience in clinical leadership within an emergency or acute care setting.
• Strong ability to manage teams, budgets and stakeholder relationships.
• Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and continuous learning.
