Trauma Unit Manager – Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Trauma & Emergency Nurse to lead the Trauma & Emergency Unit of a leading private hospital in Cape Town. The role combines clinical expertise with strong leadership to ensure high‑quality patient care and efficient unit operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily operations of the Trauma & Emergency Unit.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the nursing team.
• Maintain high standards of patient care and clinical practice.
• Oversee staffing, rosters, and departmental resources.
• Monitor quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with doctors, multidisciplinary teams, and hospital management.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SANC regulations, and relevant legislation.
• Supervise stock, equipment, and operational requirements.
• Manage staff performance and promote ongoing development.
• Maintain a safe, efficient, and patient‑centred trauma environment.

Required profile

• Diploma/Degree in General Nursing.
• Diploma in Trauma & Emergency Nursing Science (essential).
• Diploma/Degree in Nursing Management/Administration (essential).
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• 3–5 years’ experience in a Trauma & Emergency Unit.
• Previous unit manager or leadership experience in trauma settings.
• Strong leadership and operational abilities.
