Trauma & Emergency Registered Nurse – Western Cape

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Trauma & Emergency Registered Nurse to join a leading private hospital in the Western Cape. The role involves delivering rapid, evidence‑based care to patients with traumatic and emergency conditions in a high‑pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide immediate, evidence‑based care to trauma and emergency patients.
• Perform triage to prioritize urgent cases.
• Stabilise critically injured patients using advanced life support protocols.
• Assist doctors during emergency procedures and resuscitations.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and emergency physicians to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately.
• Support and mentor junior nurses and auxiliary staff in trauma protocols.

Required profile

• Degree in Nursing.
• Degree or specialization in Trauma & Emergency Nursing.
• Minimum 3 years of trauma nursing experience.
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Required skills

• Advanced Life Support (ALS) protocols.
• Patient triage.
• Medication administration in emergency settings.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Accurate clinical documentation.
