Transport Manager – Mpumalanga

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee the transport and loading fleet, ensuring a reliable supply of timber to regional markets across Mpumalanga. The role involves planning, monitoring, and optimizing daily logistics operations in line with sales targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan daily, weekly and monthly transport and loading requirements based on the sales plan.
• Monitor haulage and delivery performance against the schedule and adjust dispatches as needed.
• Assess truck availability, uptime, and depot stock levels to support efficient routing.
• Conduct regular route and depot inspections to maintain safety and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with foresters and roads engineers to plan future route and depot needs.
• Promote safety among transport staff and contractors according to Sappi’s safety standards.
• Liaise with DOT/RTMS for route conditions and special permits.
• Ensure fleet optimisation aligns with route leads, depot stocks and mill requirements.
• Compile and submit operational reports as required.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Logistics/Transport or a Forestry‑related qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree is advantageous.
• Up to 5 years of relevant experience in transport or logistics management.
• Valid EB (Code 8) driver’s licence.
