Transport & Logistics Business Development Manager

About the role

The Transport & Logistics Business Development Manager will lead growth initiatives for a company operating national and cross‑border freight as well as mining logistics. Reporting to senior leadership, the role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building lasting client relationships, and delivering customised logistics solutions that increase revenue and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire new clients and expand market share in the transport and logistics sector.
• Design and present tailored logistics proposals, including taut liner freight and side‑tipper mining operations, to meet client needs.
• Maintain a robust sales pipeline, track performance metrics, and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Represent the company at trade shows, industry forums, and networking events.
• Identify upselling and cross‑selling opportunities to maximise account value.
• Monitor industry rates, regulations, and emerging innovations to keep solutions competitive.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑5 years of business development, marketing or sales experience within transport and logistics.
• Proven ability to build trust‑based client relationships from initial contact through post‑sale support.
• Strong understanding of national and cross‑border freight operations and mining logistics.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation capabilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of taut liner freight for national and cross‑border routes.
• Familiarity with side‑tipper operations for mining logistics.
