Training Officer

About the role

The Training Officer will lead the internal Driver Training Centre at Hutech, ensuring that driver training programmes are delivered effectively and comply with TETA/SETA regulations. This role combines operational oversight with continuous development of driver performance to enhance safety and efficiency within a logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Driver Training Centre, including scheduling and resource allocation.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate Driver Trainers, fostering a high‑performance team.
• Design and deliver training programmes such as induction, defensive driving, fuel‑efficiency and safety courses.
• Conduct training needs analyses, skills audits and implement corrective interventions.
• Ensure compliance with TETA/SETA accreditation, oversee assessments, moderation and approval of Portfolios of Evidence.
• Prepare Workplace Skills Plans, Annual Training Reports and maintain accurate training records and KPIs.
• Manage training budgets, resources and reporting, and liaise with HR, operations and compliance teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to raise performance standards.

Required profile

• Registered Assessor and Moderator (mandatory).
• Minimum 4 years experience in training and development, preferably within transport or logistics.
• Proven experience managing trainers or a training team.
• Strong knowledge of driver training and TETA/SETA compliance frameworks.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
