Trainee Production Manager

About the role

The Trainee Production Manager will support planning, organising, monitoring and controlling production processes in designated departments to ensure timely, cost‑effective and high‑quality output. This position provides practical, hands‑on training across all areas of production management.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHACT and environmental regulations.
• Control daily and monthly tonnage and manage production schedules, workflow and resource allocation.
• Plan and monitor stock and raw‑material levels, ordering as required.
• Develop and update operating procedures in collaboration with the training department.
• Manage shift systems, backups and rotating schedules.
• Implement new products and processes, conducting necessary trials.
• Control waste and maintain product quality standards.
• Liaise with maintenance, customers and suppliers regarding schedules, specifications and downtimes.
• Compile bi‑annual budgets, manage and control production costs.
• Schedule and conduct plant, continuous‑improvement, KPI and health‑safety meetings.
• Maintain production and personnel records and verify bonus calculations.
• Identify manpower and skill requirements, provide on‑the‑job training and foster positive industrial‑relations climate.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a wire manufacturing environment.
