Trainee Accountant (SAIPA)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated SAIPA Trainee Accountant to join our team at Christo Prins Accountants in Paarl. This position offers hands‑on experience in accounting, tax and client services while you work towards becoming a Professional Accountant (SA).

Key responsibilities

• Interpret client accounting records and compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs.
• Process monthly VAT transactions, reconcile accounts and prepare trial balances.
• Calculate and lodge income tax, provisional tax, VAT and PAYE returns.
• Assist with various client matters, including administrative tasks and query resolution (including SARS).

Required profile

• Matric with Mathematics and Accounting.
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree (in progress or completed).
• Work experience in an accounting practice is advantageous.
• Strong computer literacy, especially Excel.
• Fluency in Afrikaans and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Sage online (advantageous).
• Familiarity with DraftWorx (advantageous).
