Theatre Operations Manager

About the role

The Theatre Operations Manager will lead non‑clinical functions within the operating theatre at Life Eugene Marais Hospital. The role focuses on optimizing processes, managing resources and supporting the clinical team to deliver high‑quality patient care while meeting strategic objectives of growth, efficiency, quality and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for efficient allocation of non‑clinical staff, equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate with departments to maximise utilisation of operating theatre resources and manage inventory and procurement.
• Prepare and manage theatre budgets, analyse financial performance and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Analyse current operational processes, create SOPs and oversee scheduling systems to improve theatre utilisation and patient flow.
• Oversee maintenance, repair and replacement of non‑clinical equipment and evaluate new technologies.
• Ensure compliance of non‑clinical processes with healthcare regulations and implement quality‑assurance programmes.
• Recruit, train and manage non‑clinical staff, conduct performance evaluations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Prepare regular performance reports for nursing and hospital management and liaise with clinical leaders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum three years’ experience in operations management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Participative and collaborative management style with strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Current knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial relations, standards and ethical codes.
• Proven ability to develop staff potential and promote a positive working environment.
