Technical Team Lead – Azure Data Management

About the role

A leading digital consultancy is looking for a Technical Team Lead to head a high‑performing Azure Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team. The role blends hands‑on development of scalable, secure data solutions in Microsoft Azure with leadership, agile delivery, and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement modern data architectures using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL and Synapse Analytics.
• Lead, mentor and manage a cross‑functional team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists and BI Developers, overseeing sprint planning and code reviews.
• Develop complex ETL/ELT pipelines, optimise T‑SQL queries and create reusable Databricks notebooks for high‑volume processing.
• Enforce CI/CD processes, implement monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, and ensure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA and other regulations.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications, collaborate with architects and product owners, and provide regular project updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
• Expert‑level experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL/Synapse and Power BI.
• Strong command of CI/CD pipelines, data modelling and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with Azure AD, RBAC and cloud cost management.
