Technical Specialist – Automotive Coating Solutions

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Specialist to act as the primary technical expert for BMW‑approved bodyshops and dealerships across South Africa. Working remotely, you will support customers in maximizing performance, productivity, quality and profitability of automotive coating solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical training and coaching to BMW‑approved bodyshops and dealerships, supporting adoption of new products, technologies and best practices.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders through site visits, meetings and day‑to‑day technical support.
• Investigate and resolve paint process and application issues, conduct root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Gather and evaluate process data such as temperature, viscosity, film build and appearance measurements (Wave Scan), interpret results and prepare technical reports.
• Promote safety and compliance at customer sites, ensuring proper product handling, application practices and use of PPE.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical professional with experience in automotive refinishing and coating solutions.
• Willingness to travel regularly within South Africa, especially to the Johannesburg region.
• Strong communication skills to act as a strategic advisor and technical resource.

• Automotive paint application and colour matching.
• Paint process troubleshooting and defect identification.
• Temperature and viscosity measurement.

• Technical report preparation and data analysis.
