Technical Manager - Facilities Engineering

About the role

Mediclinic George is recruiting a Technical Manager for a permanent, on-site position. The role oversees the technical team and manages, improves and optimises technical operations within the hospital facility, acting as the management representative for quality management, continuous improvement and occupational health and safety related to engineering aspects. Its core purpose is to maintain buildings and equipment so that assets remain in their original condition.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the management and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment
• Manage and support technical projects within the hospital
• Manage and mitigate technical operations risk within the hospital
• Oversee and manage on-site contractors and suppliers
• Ensure quality management and continuous improvement within technical operations
• Manage stakeholder relations and client service in the technical environment
• Lead and manage the technical team
• Manage and control the department budget and finances

Required profile

• NQF level 6 or 7 engineering qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (heavy current), with thermodynamics and electro technology passed at second-year level, plus relevant experience
• Either NQF level 6 with 12 years of post-graduate engineering experience, or NQF level 7 with 6 years of post-graduate engineering experience, with exposure to HVAC and auxiliary electrical power supplies
• Desired: tertiary qualification in business management or leadership, and 2 years' experience in a facility management environment
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport

• Competent person status under the General Machinery Regulations of 1988 (South Africa only)
