Team Leader – Fraud Operations

About the role

Capitec is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated Team Leader for its Fraud Operations unit. You will lead a team that investigates card, digital, application and internal fraud, mitigates losses, recovers funds and ensures service delivery within agreed SLAs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of fraud investigators.
• Investigate and act on various fraud types, including card, digital, application and internal threats.
• Mitigate financial losses, recover funds and perform charge‑backs.
• Ensure compliance with SLA targets and departmental standards.
• Advise internal stakeholders and clients on fraud‑related matters.
• Liaise with third‑party providers and banking industry partners.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of South African banking legislation and emerging fraud typologies.

Required profile

• 2–4 years experience in banking, retail, fraud, forensics or client‑service environments.
• 1–3 years proven leadership or team‑lead experience in a fast‑moving fraud detection setting.
• Comprehensive understanding of the South African financial/banking environment and relevant legislation.
• Proficiency in investigation techniques, methodologies and customer‑service protocols.
• Familiarity with common fraud typologies, emerging trends and financial‑crime policies.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting (Financial Accounting) or Business Administration.
