Systems Coordinator – Mechanical & Fluid Systems (Cape Town)

About the role

The Systems Coordinator will lead the Mechanical and Systems department on complex yacht builds, ensuring that propulsion, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and hydraulic equipment are installed efficiently and integrated seamlessly throughout the construction process.

Key responsibilities

• Manage departmental workflows and resource allocation with at least 10 years of marine, yacht‑building or ship‑building experience.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of engine rooms, main engines, drive trains, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, bilge and hydraulic systems.
• Align installation schedules to optimise workflow efficiency and meet project milestones.
• Review and interpret system diagrams, mechanical schematics and technical drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and classification societies (RINA, Lloyd’s) to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Lead testing, troubleshooting and final commissioning of onboard systems to meet quality and classification standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in marine, yacht‑building or ship‑building environments.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate technical teams or mechanical installation departments.
• Formal technical or engineering qualification related to marine mechanical systems.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills to bridge design and physical installation.
