Support Engineer

About the role

The Health Biomedical Science and Technology Institute seeks a motivated Support Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot its IT infrastructure, laboratory technologies, and digital health systems. You will ensure reliable operation of hardware, software, networks, and user services that support research, diagnostics, education, and administration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑ and second‑level technical support to staff, researchers, and laboratory personnel.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices and peripheral equipment.
• Support laboratory information systems (LIS), hospital information systems (HIS), EMR platforms and research software.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues promptly.
• Maintain operating systems, productivity software, antivirus solutions and security updates.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, email services and access controls.
• Support network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, VPN and internet services.
• Assist with integration and support of biomedical and laboratory equipment connected to IT systems.
• Maintain accurate records of support requests, incidents, asset inventories and documentation.
• Participate in system upgrades, infrastructure projects, compliance with cybersecurity standards and disaster‑recovery activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information Systems or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in IT support, technical support or systems administration.
• Experience in healthcare, laboratory, biomedical or research environments is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified, Cisco CCNA or ITIL Foundation are an advantage.
