Student / Junior Accountant

About the role

Our client in the property sector is looking for a motivated Student/Junior Accountant to support the finance team. This full‑time position is ideal for candidates completing an accounting qualification who want to gain hands‑on experience in property accounting and develop a long‑term career.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily financial transactions, capture journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Perform bank, balance‑sheet and supplier reconciliations.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including preparation of supporting schedules.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, invoice suppliers, reconcile statements and support debtor collections.
• Support property‑related accounting such as tenant billing, rental reconciliations and lease administration.
• Prepare monthly management reports, VAT schedules and assist with audit requests.
• Maintain accurate filing, statutory submissions and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting, Accounting Diploma or similar qualification (or currently studying).
• 0–2 years of accounting or finance experience; property‑industry exposure is a plus.
• Enrolled in or pursuing SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA qualification is encouraged.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (intermediate level).
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, Pastel or QuickBooks.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Good understanding of accounting principles, VAT and reconciliations.
