Storekeeper

About the role

The Storekeeper is the guardian of all supplies for Mama Shelter Cape Town, ensuring that every ingredient, product and item entering the hotel is received, stored and managed with precision. This role supports the hotel’s pre‑opening phase and ongoing operations, helping teams deliver memorable guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Receive all incoming goods, verifying quantities, quality, specifications and condition against purchase orders and delivery documents.
• Inspect deliveries for accuracy, freshness and compliance with food‑safety and brand standards before acceptance.
• Maintain accurate stock records, ensure proper storage practices and support effective inventory control to minimise waste and shortages.
• Keep storage areas clean, organised, labelled and maintained according to hygiene, safety and operational standards.
• Support regular stock counts, inventory movements and reconciliation processes.
• Monitor stock levels, help reduce wastage and ensure efficient use of supplies to control costs.
• Coordinate closely with suppliers, purchasing teams and hotel departments to ensure smooth receiving processes and timely product availability.
• Assist in setting up stores and inventory systems during the hotel’s pre‑opening phase.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in stock record‑keeping.
• Commitment to maintaining hygiene, safety and brand standards.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.
