Stock Controller & Export Logistics Coordinator

About the role

The organisation is seeking an experienced Stock Controller and Export Logistics Coordinator for its Durban logyard. This six‑month fixed‑term role combines hands‑on stock control with the administration of export shipments, ensuring accurate movement of timber from receipt to customer delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Control and record stock movements, conduct regular counts and reconcile physical stock with system records.
• Prepare and verify export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and certificates.
• Coordinate container bookings, freight, and liaise with freight forwarders, clearing agents and shipping lines.
• Monitor stock levels, ageing, FIFO, and manage damaged or shrinkage stock.
• Provide customers with timely updates on stock status, shipment progress and delivery milestones.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and 2–3 years of practical experience in stock control, warehouse administration or logistics coordination.
• Proven ability to conduct stock counts, reconcile discrepancies and handle export documentation.
• Exposure to export logistics, container bookings and interaction with freight forwarders.
• Strong numerical ability, attention to detail and effective communication with customers and service providers.

Required skills

• Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience using an ERP, inventory or warehouse management system.
