South African Police Service Student (TRA26/27)

About the role

The South African Police Service is advertising 5,500 student posts for the TRA26/27 intake. It is a national-level contract position governed by the SAPS Act, 1995, with a stipend of R5,000.00. The role involves training to become a police official.

Key responsibilities

• Prevent, combat and investigate crime
• Maintain public order
• Protect and secure the inhabitants of the Republic and their property
• Uphold and enforce the law
• Undergo training as and when determined by the National Commissioner

Required profile

• Citizen of the Republic of South Africa (proof required)
• Aged 18 to 35 at the closing date (proof required)
• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (proof required)
• Proficient in English and at least one other official language
• Physically, medically and mentally fit, with a clean criminal record and no pending cases
• No visible tattoos in uniform, no previous dismissal for serious misconduct, and no disqualification from possessing a firearm
• Willingness to undergo vetting, security clearance, and to serve anywhere in the Republic
• Preference given to applicants with a valid light motor vehicle licence and a relevant three-year tertiary qualification (NQF 6 or higher) in fields such as Criminal Law, Policing or Forensic Investigation
