Solar Business Developer – Commercial & Industrial

About the role

We are seeking a Solar Business Developer to lead our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) division in South Africa. You will act as the bridge between cutting‑edge solar‑plus‑storage technology and high‑energy‑consumption clients in mining, industry and large commercial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and nurture relationships with EPC contractors and solar distributors to position the company as the preferred technology partner.
• Identify and engage high‑energy‑consuming clients across mining, industrial and commercial markets.
• Leverage personal EPC and industry network to generate new project pipelines.
• Design tailored solar‑plus‑storage solutions that meet technical and financial client requirements.
• Conduct ROI, payback and financing analyses to build compelling business cases.
• Lead commercial negotiations, draft PPAs and turnkey agreements, and oversee payment tracking.
• Monitor energy policies, regulatory updates, carbon‑credit opportunities and B‑BBEE compliance.
• Develop competitive market strategies based on regulatory insights and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in C&I solar or renewable‑energy business development.
• Strong network with EPC firms, distributors and high‑consumption industries.
• Strategic mindset with ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value.
• Excellent financial modelling and ROI analysis capabilities.
• Understanding of South African energy regulations and B‑BBEE requirements.
