Software Engineer – Open Source Contributor (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer to contribute production‑quality code to open‑source projects on a remote, contract basis. The role offers flexible hours (10‑40 hrs/week) and competitive compensation.

Key responsibilities

• Write, review, and document production‑grade code for open‑source repositories.
• Design, implement, and optimise complex algorithms and system components.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical challenges.
• Collaborate with other contributors and stakeholders to align deliverables with project goals.
• Maintain and enhance technical documentation for knowledge sharing.
• Participate in code discussions and provide constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Proven experience contributing to open‑source projects with public profiles (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
• Experience working on large‑scale, distributed codebases is preferred.
• Familiarity with modern AI or machine learning systems is a plus.
