Social Worker – Employee Wellness Program

About the role

Mimed is seeking a compassionate Social Worker to join its Employee Wellness Program. You will provide professional psychosocial support, counselling, and wellness services to staff, helping to promote mental health, resilience and overall wellbeing in the workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver social work services to employees in line with ethical standards.
• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and create intervention plans.
• Provide individual, group and family counselling as needed.
• Offer crisis intervention and trauma support for personal or work‑related challenges.
• Identify psychosocial risks affecting health, wellbeing and performance.
• Refer employees to appropriate internal and external support services.
• Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and client records.
• Prepare reports, case summaries and required documentation.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
• Facilitate health promotion, wellness and employee assistance programmes.
• Develop and present mental‑health, stress‑management and substance‑abuse awareness initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, professional standards and organisational policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to programme improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
• Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience, preferably in employee wellness, occupational health, healthcare or a corporate setting.
• Strong counselling, psychosocial assessment and case‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
