Social Auxiliary Worker – Homeless Shelter

About the role

The Haven Night Shelter is seeking a Social Auxiliary Worker to support adults living on the streets who are committed to reintegration. Reporting to the Shelter Manager, you will provide direct social services, casework and community support within Moira Henderson House.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial client intake, ensuring safety and basic care.
• Provide casework and represent clients in relevant matters.
• Prepare and deliver the Annual Social Work Service Delivery Plan and related reports.
• Facilitate group and community activities for residents.
• Manage pension matters and general administrative tasks.
• Support shelter operations and staff coordination.
• Promote the shelter through public relations activities.

Required profile

• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Social Auxiliary Work Certificate.
• Ability to interact with clients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
• Competence in handling conflict situations.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office, MS Excel, Outlook).
• Team‑player attitude with no criminal record.
• Good health; prior NGO experience is an advantage.
