Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

This position is for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer based in South Africa. You will help keep critical services stable while driving automation and engineering excellence to improve operational efficiency. The role blends hands‑on incident management with long‑term reliability initiatives that enhance platform performance.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in on‑call rotations to identify, investigate, and resolve service reliability issues across production environments.
• Act as Incident Commander during major incidents, coordinating response teams and ensuring timely resolution.
• Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, and monitoring solutions to improve system visibility.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application instrumentation, observability, and performance tracking.
• Develop automation solutions to eliminate repetitive operational tasks and boost engineering efficiency.
• Define, implement, and monitor Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to measure reliability.
• Investigate complex customer‑impacting issues involving performance, availability, and system behaviour.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, resilience, and operational excellence.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a similar production support role.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to collaborate across engineering teams.
• Solid understanding of modern cloud‑native architectures, distributed systems, and microservices.
