Site Manager – Northern Cape Operations

About the role

The Site Manager will lead the Northern Cape site of SGS, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient inspection, sampling and sample‑preparation operations. You will be responsible for operational excellence, client satisfaction and supporting business growth in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and control all site activities including field sampling, inspection, sample preparation, dispatch and reporting support.
• Schedule personnel, vehicles, equipment and tools to meet client requirements within agreed turnaround times.
• Monitor daily performance, productivity, overtime, service quality and adherence to work instructions.
• Maintain resources such as manpower, PPE, vehicles and consumables for efficient operations.
• Implement and maintain technical, operational and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with SGS policies, QHSE standards and South African legislation.
• Lead, coach and develop staff, overseeing training, competency records and safe work behaviour.
• Manage site finances including petty cash, assets, consumables, overtime and other controllable costs.
• Support business development activities and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing site‑based operations, preferably in inspection, testing or certification environments.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, quality and environmental (QHSE) requirements.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, resolve operational issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with regional managers, clients and support functions.
• Financial acumen to control site costs and report performance metrics.
