Site Construction Manager

About the role

The Site Construction Manager will support FNB’s regional infrastructure, security and IT services by overseeing the construction and maintenance of branches, off‑site ATMs, cash centres, learning centres and other owned properties. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the bank’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct practical completion, snagging and final inspections to ensure successful project close‑out and handover.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, vendors and internal stakeholders to keep project objectives, timelines and deliverables on track.
• Manage and monitor project expenditure against the approved BOQ and budget, controlling costs and approving variations.
• Resolve on‑site construction, operational and vendor‑related issues to minimise delays.
• Oversee delivery, verification and inventory control of all BOQ‑related assets, materials and equipment.
• Ensure all construction work complies with technical specifications, visual merchandising, design and corporate standards.
• Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and resources to deliver work according to the approved plan.
• Maintain strict control of project documentation, ensuring current revisions are available on site.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, provide weekly reports and mitigation plans to management.
• Conduct inspections, quality‑assurance reviews and health‑compliance checks to meet legislative and organisational requirements.
• Review contractor claims and invoices for alignment with completed work and contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Proven ability to conduct practical completion, snagging and final inspections.
• Experience liaising with architects, engineers, vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Strong capability to manage project budgets and BOQ expenditures.
• Effective problem‑solving skills for on‑site construction and vendor issues.
• Attention to detail in maintaining project documentation and compliance records.
• Ability to monitor project progress, identify risks and report to senior management.
