SHERQ Executive

About the role

Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturer, is seeking a senior SHERQ Executive to shape and drive the Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality strategy across multiple sites. This role reports to senior leadership and will embed a strong safety and quality culture while ensuring compliance with food safety, regulatory and customer standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a divisional SHERQ strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead, mentor and grow high‑performing SHERQ teams, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Drive proactive safety, quality, environmental and risk management across all manufacturing sites.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, occupational health, environmental, statutory and certification requirements.
• Partner with executive leadership to influence strategic decisions and support business performance.
• Present SHERQ performance, audit results and initiatives to senior stakeholders and customers.
• Oversee risk management programmes, quality management systems and environmental compliance initiatives.
• Manage internal and external audits, ensuring effective implementation of management systems.
• Lead change projects that improve compliance, operational efficiency and business outcomes.
• Develop sustainable SHERQ structures, succession plans and capability‑building programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in SHERQ, Risk Management, Environmental Management, Safety Management, Quality Management, Food Technology or a related field.
• Approximately 10 years of SHERQ experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Proven executive‑level leadership experience (Head of, Group, Executive or equivalent).
• Strong background in Food Safety, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance or integrated SHERQ functions.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
