Shelter Manager – Kalk Bay

About the role

The Haven Night Shelter is seeking a dynamic manager to lead its Kalk Bay shelter. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations, ensuring that clients receive essential support and that the shelter runs efficiently and in line with the organisation’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily activities and staff at the Kalk Bay shelter, reporting to the Operations Manager and Shelter Committee.
• Maintain accurate financial records, manage the budget, and oversee fundraising, fee collection, and cost control.
• Ensure clients receive appropriate social‑work interventions and support exit plans for family reunification or community reintegration.
• Develop and implement systems with staff and head‑office to improve care quality and food security for surrounding communities.
• Account for all income, expenses, and goods‑in‑kind donations, ensuring robust controls are in place.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Honest, healthy, sober individual with strong people skills.
• Supervisory experience and good verbal and written communication.
• Intermediate computer skills for report compilation.
• Experience in NGOs or similar environments is advantageous.
