Shelter Manager – Bellville

About the role

The Haven Night Shelter provides social work, rehabilitation, family reunification and physical care to adults living on the streets. We are looking for a dynamic manager to lead the Bellville shelter and ensure effective service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Bellville shelter, supervising all staff members.
• Report to the Operations Manager and Shelter Committee on activities, finances and governance.
• Maintain accurate records of income, expenses and goods‑in‑kind donations.
• Manage the shelter’s budget, including fundraising, fee collection and cost control.
• Ensure each client receives appropriate social‑work support aligned with the organisation’s mission.
• Provide resources for social workers and clients to develop and execute exit plans for family reunification or community reintegration.
• Develop and implement systems with staff and head office to improve client care.
• Use shelter resources to enhance food security and welfare services for surrounding communities.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Honest, healthy and sober individual.
• Strong people skills with supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Intermediate computer skills with ability to compile reports.
• Experience in NGOs or similar environments is an advantage.
