Service Technician – Khangela Wind Farm

About the role

Vestas is seeking a motivated Service Technician to join its South Africa Service Department, supporting the Khangela Wind Farm. The role involves performing intermediate‑level maintenance and installation tasks on wind turbines, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all safety standards, act as a safety role model, and intervene when unsafe acts occur.
• Identify safety gaps, propose risk‑mitigation measures, and report recommendations to senior staff.
• Perform intermediate wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, using specialized calibration, hydraulic and power tools.
• Document work activities and enter data into SAP.
• Gather turbine performance information, diagnose routine issues, and implement solutions.
• Use diagnostic tools such as Fluke meters and hydraulic pressure gauges to troubleshoot.
• Mentor lower‑level technical staff and support a strong team environment.
• Interact with customers, respond to inquiries, and refer complex issues to senior personnel.

Required profile

• Tertiary diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of technical wind‑industry experience, or 6 months plus a certificate of completion.

Required skills

• Proficiency with calibration tools.
• Experience using hydraulic tools and power tools.
• Ability to operate Fluke meters and hydraulic pressure gauges.
• Familiarity with SAP for data entry.
