Senior Technician

About the role

The Senior Technician will join the Technical Division at Impala Housing Waterkloof Estate in Polokwane. You will be responsible for installing, commissioning and maintaining a range of electronic security systems while ensuring client satisfaction and compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain electronic security equipment, including CCTV, access control, boom gates and turnstiles.
• Perform fibre‑optic splicing, OTDR testing, fault finding and documentation of all work.
• Install and service electrical fencing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Manage project documentation, registers, overtime and route sheets.
• Provide technical support to clients, report faults, and stand by for emergency calls.
• Lead and mentor junior technicians on site.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• National Diploma or Trade Test in Electrical Engineering/Electronics (preferred).
• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• PSIRA registration and relevant security system certifications.
• Ability to work at heights and comply with safety standards.

Required skills

• Fibre‑optic splicing and OTDR testing.
• Electrical fence installation and maintenance.
• Access control systems (e.g., Impro, Hikvision, Gallagher).
• CCTV IP‑based system installation and troubleshooting.
• Network troubleshooting, VLAN configuration and IP routing (Cisco CCNA level).
• Systems integration of access control, CCTV and alarm systems.
