Senior Technician – Electronic & Mechanical Repair Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technician to lead our Electronic and Mechanical Repair Department at a well‑established South African manufacturer and distributor. This permanent, full‑time position combines hands‑on technical work with team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the repair department, ensuring service levels, turnaround times and quality standards.
• Perform advanced PCB‑level diagnostics, component‑level fault finding and repairs on electronic control circuits and motors.
• Plan and prioritise the repair board, allocate workloads, resolve technical issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
• Train, mentor and develop the technical team, keeping staff updated on product changes and repair procedures.
• Oversee warranty authorisation, maintain OHS compliance and provide field or on‑site technical support as required.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF Level 6 qualification in Electrical Engineering (Occupational Certificate, National Diploma or equivalent) with 4‑5 years of practical experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience in electronics and mechanical repair, capable of circuit‑board level fault finding.
• Extensive knowledge of electronic control circuits, mechanical systems and motor repair gained in workshop or field settings.
• Proven experience leading or supervising a technical team with effective coaching and communication skills.
• Valid South African driver’s licence and a reliable personal vehicle.
