Senior Tax Advisor

About the role

The Senior Tax Advisor will lead the delivery of international tax advice across Absa Group entities, managing tax risk and uncovering tax optimisation opportunities for major projects and initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive and reactive international tax advice to project leads, Corporate Development, Finance, Legal and Compliance teams.
• Identify, assess and communicate tax risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate controls are documented and implemented.
• Quantify tax risk impacts, recommend mitigation actions and secure funding for risk‑reduction plans.
• Liaise with tax leads, external auditors and specialist advisors to align tax positions with financial reporting requirements.
• Maintain clear records of analysis, assumptions and supporting work papers.
• Deliver training to stakeholders on tax opportunities, risk management and engagement processes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international tax advisory within a corporate or banking environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work confidentially on complex, high‑value projects.
• Proven track record of managing tax risk and driving tax efficiency.
