About the role

Transformer Business Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI‑focused team in the Pretoria Metropolitan Area. The role is full‑time and hybrid, allowing collaboration with cross‑functional groups while delivering robust backend solutions that power the company’s AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend web applications.
• Implement object‑oriented design patterns and write clean, efficient code.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and UI/UX teams to integrate AI services.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration pipelines.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimise system architecture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong foundation in core computer‑science concepts and software engineering principles.
• Proven experience in backend development and building maintainable systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to work on‑site in the Pretoria Metropolitan Area.
