Senior Security Engineer, Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) – EMEA

About the role

As a Senior Security Engineer on GitLab’s Security Incident Response Team (SIRT), you will defend GitLab.com and the broader GitLab environment against evolving security threats. Working in a 24/7 global “follow‑the‑sun” model, you will own incidents from detection through recovery while collaborating across teams to improve the overall security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate end‑to‑end response for high‑severity security events during EMEA business hours.
• Prepare clear executive communications to keep stakeholders informed throughout incidents.
• Investigate complex incidents across cloud environments using Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) methodologies.
• Partner with Signals Engineering to develop and deploy automation and AI‑driven detection and response workflows.
• Continuously improve detection fidelity, investigation speed, and response times through tooling and data‑driven approaches.

Required profile

• Proven experience in high‑tempo DFIR environments and 24/7 on‑call operations.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to handle complex, multi‑vector security incidents.
• Excellent communication skills for executive briefings and cross‑functional collaboration.
