Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst – Legal (Remote)

About the role

A prestigious UK‑based law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst (Legal) to join its global Risk & Compliance team. This fully remote position is open to South African‑based professionals with strong expertise in legal compliance, AML, KYC and client due‑diligence processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end client onboarding and due‑diligence, managing requests from clients, directors and beneficial owners.
• Conduct conflict, sanctions, PEP and adverse‑media screening and resolve or escalate potential matches.
• Perform risk‑based analysis, assign client risk ratings and complete client and matter risk assessments.
• Undertake complex AML risk assessments and Enhanced Due Diligence on high‑risk clients, escalating to senior risk leadership as needed.
• Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior Risk & Compliance analysts.
• Support regulatory queries, internal audits and policy updates, and monitor emerging AML trends.

Required profile

• Law degree or equivalent qualification in Risk Management, Compliance or a related field.
• Prior experience in a legal compliance function, preferably within a law firm or financial services environment.
• Proven ability to handle complex due‑diligence, Enhanced Due Diligence and high‑risk client scenarios.
• Strong analytical, investigative and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote, global environment.
