Senior Regional Technical Manager – Cape Town

About the role

A leading national passenger transport organisation is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Regional Technical Manager to oversee regional technical operations across workshops and fleet maintenance facilities in Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to technical teams, ensure fleet reliability and preventative maintenance compliance, and support the implementation of the national technical strategy across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship to Workshop Managers and technical personnel across the region.
• Oversee fleet maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance programmes for commercial vehicles.
• Monitor vehicle running costs, maintenance budgets and technical expenditure.
• Ensure compliance with OEM standards, technical procedures and workshop policies.
• Provide technical advice and operational support to the operations team.
• Present monthly technical reports and participate in technical and operational meetings.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations within workshops.
• Oversee maintenance of workshop facilities, tools and equipment.
• Support workforce planning, staff development and performance management of workshop personnel.
• Implement and monitor technical department strategies and policies in alignment with national objectives.

Required profile

• Trade Test Certificate – Diesel Mechanic.
• Post‑tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or Business Management (advantageous).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Workshop Manager.
• 6–8 years’ experience in a Regional Technical Management role.
• Experience in commercial vehicle or fleet maintenance environments.
