Senior Project Manager – Life Insurance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead strategic, high‑impact projects within a leading life‑insurance organisation. Based in Johannesburg, you will drive end‑to‑end delivery of complex business and technology initiatives, working closely with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to scope.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, timelines and risk registers.
• Coordinate with business owners, IT teams, vendors and executive management to align objectives.
• Manage project governance, reporting and steering‑committee presentations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate change management and stakeholder communication.
• Drive continuous improvement of project delivery methodologies and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10+ years of experience managing complex projects, preferably in the insurance sector.
• Proven experience in life‑insurance projects is highly preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and leadership abilities.
• Immediate availability or short notice period.

Required skills

• PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or Scrum certification (or equivalent).
• Deep knowledge of project‑management methodologies and best practices.
• Experience delivering enterprise‑wide transformation or technology projects.
