Senior Product Engineer

About the role

Jem is seeking a senior product engineer to drive AI‑first development of its HR and financial wellness platform for deskless workers across South Africa. You will own feature delivery from problem definition through launch and post‑launch optimisation, working closely with product, customers and enterprise partners.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and supervise AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Windsurf, Devin) for routine development tasks and intervene with manual engineering when needed.
• Design, build and maintain robust integrations with enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP and payroll using Flowgear.
• Lead end‑to‑end feature development, from roadmap prioritisation to launch and continuous optimisation.
• Conduct customer interviews, usability testing and beta trials to validate solutions and shape technical priorities.
• Own and improve key business metrics for your features, balancing technical debt with business impact.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills for customer interviews and stakeholder presentations.
• Proven track record of delivering product features that improve business metrics.
• Ability to mentor teammates in AI‑assisted development practices.
• Analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving capabilities.

Required skills

• TypeScript
• Java, Python, C#, Go or Rust (at least one)
• Experience with AI tooling and automation in development workflows
• Enterprise system integration experience (e.g., CRM, ERP, payroll)
• Flowgear integration platform
