Senior Platform Engineer

About the role

SprintHive, a South African fintech focused on rapid, secure customer onboarding, is rebuilding its platform engineering function. As a Senior Platform Engineer you will own the next phase of platform maturity, driving architectural improvements, automation and scaling for a multi‑tenant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement architectural enhancements to support growth and remove scaling bottlenecks.
• Build automation and self‑healing systems, reducing operational overhead through Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
• Maintain high‑availability infrastructure and ensure full platform reproducibility.
• Create custom tooling and self‑service capabilities for product teams.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows and observability tooling.
• Manage monitoring, alerting, on‑call rotations and drive cost optimisation across cloud resources.
• Embed Secure‑by‑Design principles, oversee compliance and lead incident response with blameless post‑mortems.

Required profile

• 6+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE or DevOps, preferably in a high‑growth or regulated fintech environment.
• Strong software development background with the ability to write production‑grade code, not just configuration.
• Track record of contributing to open‑source projects or building custom platform tools.
• Relevant degree in Computer Science or Engineering is a plus.
