Senior Lecturer – Public Management & Administration

About the role

The University of Pretoria invites applications for a Senior Lecturer position within the School of Public Management and Administration, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. The successful candidate will join a leading research university and contribute to teaching, research, and academic service in Public Administration.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Public Administration.
• Manage academic administration, including module design, assessment, and curriculum development.
• Supervise Master’s and PhD students, guiding research projects to completion.
• Conduct and publish scholarly research in the field of Public Administration.
• Participate in departmental and university committees and represent the faculty at national and international forums.

Required profile

• Doctorate specializing in Public Administration.
• Minimum three years of tertiary teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
• Evidence of independent module design and assessment.
• At least two accredited publications or equivalent scholarly outputs.
• Experience supervising Master’s students and involvement in PhD supervision.
• Active engagement with professional bodies, conferences, journal reviewing, or external moderation.

Required skills

• Strong written and oral communication in English.
• Ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
• Proficiency in digital tools for teaching and research.
• Effective time‑management and multitasking in a busy academic environment.
