Senior / Intermediate Java Developer / Engineer

About the role

BSG is seeking senior and intermediate Java Developers/Engineers to join its collaborative development team in Johannesburg. The position involves supporting developers at client sites, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, and delivering high‑quality software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support BSG developers at client sites and foster their professional growth.
• Build and maintain trust with senior client stakeholders responsible for technology strategy.
• Ensure continuous software delivery and quality across client projects.
• Own the quality of software delivered by yourself and the teams you lead.
• Develop applications using Java and related development tools.
• Collaborate with senior technical stakeholders to define solution architecture, design, and technical approach.
• Coach and mentor intermediate developers to enhance their skills and delivery effectiveness.
• Participate in community events to promote the BSG brand and attract talent.

Required profile

• Computer Science degree or equivalent qualification.
• 3–6 years of experience for intermediate level or 7–10+ years for senior level.
• Strong commercial awareness and solid project experience across the full software lifecycle.
• Advanced coding abilities and excellent communication skills.
