Senior Interior Designer

About the role

dhk Architects' interior design team is looking for a senior designer with experience delivering projects from concept through to implementation and construction management. The team works with blue-chip and boutique clients in hospitality, multi-residential, commercial, retail and education, and wants someone who can present clear ideas internally and externally, with a sound understanding of technical and commercial feasibility.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects from inception to handover
• Assess client requirements and develop clear, accurate briefs
• Develop design concepts and present proposals to clients and colleagues
• Develop designs in line with the brief, budget and regulations
• Generate technical and construction documentation packages
• Liaise with suppliers, site coordinators and project managers
• Facilitate project handovers and support business growth

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience
• Tertiary qualification in interior design
• Ability to train the design team and manage multiple projects and teams concurrently
• Eligible to work in South Africa; salary depends on experience

Required skills

• Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp (essential)
• Understanding of construction methods and the local supplier market in South Africa
• Budgeting and numerical skills
• Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills
