About the role
The University of Johannesburg seeks a senior leader to shape academic staff development and curriculum innovation across the institution. Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Academic Staff Development, the role focuses on embedding evidence‑informed, AI‑enabled teaching and learning practices that align with the university’s strategic goals.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and thought leadership for academic staff development initiatives.
- Design and implement integrated frameworks that support curriculum reform, teaching excellence, and institutional resilience.
- Guide the integration of generative and agentic AI into teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Monitor global developments in higher education and advise on forward‑looking policies.
- Collaborate with faculties and external partners to ensure alignment with national higher‑education quality standards.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in academic staff development, curriculum design, or related higher‑education leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and provide strategic foresight.
- Strong understanding of AI technologies and their application in teaching and learning.
- Proven track record of influencing policy and driving institutional change.
