Senior Full Stack Engineer

About the role

As a senior full‑stack engineer you will deliver and support robust back‑end and front‑end applications that expose Paystack’s data and functionality to internal and external users. The role requires handling large financial data sets with high performance, accuracy and reliability while collaborating with a talented engineering team to build systems for South Africa’s leading brands.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, efficient, and reliable platform solutions.
• Develop technical solutions that advance the product vision.
• Tackle complex technical challenges to improve system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate on platform architecture optimisation and seamless system integration.
• Review specifications and code submissions, conduct thorough testing and maintain code quality.
• Support merchants and customers by working with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Extensive programming experience in at least one major language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, C#, Python).
• Experience building large, distributed systems at scale.
• Strong understanding of SQL databases and data modeling.
• Proficiency in writing solid unit and integration tests.
• Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate remotely.
• Ownership mindset and passion for building products that help African businesses.
